International activities (OECD related activities)

Under the OECD Environment, Health and Safety Program, various activities related to chemical management - including GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), new and existing chemical substances and PRTR (Pollutant Release and Transfer Register) - are implemented. CMC actively participates in these programs to share information with other countries and study international issues. Through such activities, CMC contributes to ensure international consistency in chemical management.

(2)MAD(Mutual Acceptance of Data) in the Assessment of Chemicals

In 1981, MAD (Mutual Acceptance Data) system was adopted by OECD Council.
MAD is a multilateral agreement which requests all OECD member counties acceptance of test data developed in other countries for the purpose of notifying to regulatory authorities using OECD Test Guidelines and OECD GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) principles. This avoids duplicative unnecessary testing and enhances trade facilitation.
Since 1997 non-OECD countries has been able to adhere to the MAD system. It is expected that more non-member countries comply with Council Acts related to MAD system, sign up to, and become to participate in it.
Chemical management center, NITE implements laboratory inspections and study audits with METI under the national GLP programme on CSCL, in order to ensure reliabilities of test data and international harmonization. We have also been actively participating in both OECD and national activities in relation to implementation on OECD/GLP principles.
