As for humans, there is a description that headache, nausea and vomiting occur by oral ingestion of this substance (HSDB (Access on June 2017)). As for experimental animals, there is a report that in a single oral dose test with rats, the lethal dose was 3,200 mg/kg exceeding the guidance value range of Category 2, as symptoms, depression, tremor, lethargy, and muscle weakness were observed prior to death, and at necropsy, congestion and hemorrhage in the lung, emphysema, bleeding in the stomach and small intestine, and congestion in the liver were observed (HSDB (Access on June 2017)). Moreover, there is a report that loss of equilibrium, salivation, tremors, clonic convulsions and staggering gait were observed in a 5-hour inhalation exposure to the saturated vapor (9.7 mg/L) (converted 4-hour equivalent value: 10.8 mg/L, corresponding to exceeding the guidance value range of Category 2) in rats, but resolved the next day (HSDB (Access on June 2017)). From the above, it was classified in Category 3 (narcotic effects).
