11 Self-heating substances and mixtures Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to no data, the classification is not possible.
12 Substances and mixtures which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases Classification not possible
-
-
- - There is information that it decomposes in water (DFGOT vol. 22 (2006)), and it is estimated that it reacts with water, but the classification is not possible due to no data.
13 Oxidizing liquids Not applicable
-
-
- - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
14 Oxidizing solids Classification not possible
-
-
- - It is an inorganic compound that contains halogen, but the classification is not possible due to no data.
15 Organic peroxides Not applicable
-
-
- - It is an inorganic compound.
16 Corrosive to metals Classification not possible
-
-

Rationale for the classification
1 Acute toxicity (Oral) Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Not applicable
-
-
- - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Not applicable
-
-
- - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
4 Skin sensitization Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible
-
-
- - The classification is not possible due to lack of data. Besides, for the carcinogenicity of soluble tellurium compounds, it is written that in a carcinogenicity test in which rats were given disodium trioxotellurate and mice were given disodium trioxotellurate or dipotassium tetraoxotellurate in an oral route (drinking water) for life, increased incidences of tumors was not observed (DFGOT vol. 22 (2006)). However, there is the remark that the data are of limited use because there are problems in test methods and interpretations of results such as high mortality resulting from pneumonia infection and an insufficient histopathological examination (DFGOT vol. 22 (2006)).

No reproductive toxicity information on this substance itself. However, for metallic tellurium or insoluble tellurium dioxide, there is the knowledge that oral exposure in pregnant rats during an organogenetic period induced malformations and newborn rats showed developmental disorder of cerebral nervous system as effects of exposure to tellurium via lactation from maternal animals (DFGOT vol. 22 (2006), HSDB (Access on September 2015)). Therefore, tellurium was classified in Category 1B in this hazard class, and the additional category for effects on or via lactation was applied (refer to this hazard class of tellurium (CAS No: 13494-80-9) for details). Because this substance decomposes in water, it is thought that the classification result of tellurium is applicable at least in an oral route. Therefore, the classification result is Category 1B in this hazard class similarly to tellurium, and effects on or via lactation were added.
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Classification not possible
-
-
- - The classification is not possible due to lack of data. Besides, tellurium (CAS No: 13494-80-9) is irritating to the respiratory tract.
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
10 Aspiration hazard Classification not possible
-
-
- - Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible.
