1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Category 3 |
Danger |
H301 | P301+P310 P264 P270 P321 P330 P405 P501 |
From an LD50 value of 120 mg/kg for rats (NTP (2008)), it was classified in Category 3. |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible. |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) | Not applicable |
- |
- | - | "Liquids" according to GHS definition. |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) | Category 3 |
Danger |
H331 | P304+P340 P403+P233 P261 P271 P311 P321 P405 P501 |
From a reported LC50 value (30 minutes) of 10,000 mg/m3 (2,020 ppm) (converted to a 4-hour equivalent: 714 ppm) for rats (ACGIH (2012)), it was classified in Category 3. Besides, a reference value in the unit of ppm was applied as vapour without mist because the LC50 value is lower than 90% of the saturated vapour pressure concentration (187,000 ppm). |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible. |
2 | Skin corrosion/irritation | Category 1 |
Danger |
H314 | P301+P330+P331 P303+P361+P353 P305+P351+P338 P304+P340 P260 P264 P280 P310 P321 P363 P405 P501 |
In a skin irritation test using mice, after application of 0.5 mL of this substance (99%) for 3 minutes or 4 hours, erythema and edema were observed after 3-minute application, and erythema did not resolve during an observation period (7 days). A 4-hour application group showed erythema and edema which did not resolve during an observation period, and one animal showed tissue destruction and was killed (ECETOC TR66 (1995)). Besides, it is written that this substance is severely irritating to skin (HSDB (Access on June 2015)). From the above results, it was judged to be classified in Category 1. |
3 | Serious eye damage/eye irritation | Category 1 |
Danger |
H318 | P305+P351+P338 P280 P310 |
It is written that this substance is severely irritating to eyes (HSDB (Access on June 2015)). Besides, it was classified in Category 1 in skin irritation/corrosion. From the above results, it was judged to be classified in Category 1. |
4 | Respiratory sensitization | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible. |
4 | Skin sensitization | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible. |
5 | Germ cell mutagenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Because it was not possible to classify a substance as "Not classified" according to the revised GHS classification guidance for the Japanese government, it was classified as "Classification not possible." As for in vivo, it is reported that a micronucleus test using peripheral blood after oral administration in 4 mouse strains was negative (NTP (2008), ACGIH (7th, 2012)). As for in vitro, a bacterial reverse mutation test was positive (NTP (2008), ACGIH (7th, 2012)). From the above, although a positive bacterial reverse mutation test, it was judged that this information only could not be a rationale for Category 2. |
6 | Carcinogenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | There is no carcinogenicity information in humans. As for experimental animals, in a 40-week gavage administration carcinogenicity test using genetically modified mice of 2 kinds (Tg. AC mice (v-Ha-ras transgenic mice), and p53 haploinsufficient mice), subcutaneous and intracutaneous masses mainly in vulvar area and a slightly increased incidence of squamous epithelial papilloma (histopathologically) were observed in female mice in evaluation system using Tg. AC mice. However, evidence of carcinogenicity was not shown in either male mice of the system or males and females of p53 haploinsufficient mice (NTP (2008), ACGIH (7th, 2012)). From the above, ACGIH classified in A4 (ACGIH (7th, 2012)), and by supporting the classification result by ACGIH, the substance was classified in "the classification is not possible" in this evaluation. |
7 | Reproductive toxicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | The classification is not possible due to lack of data. Besides, it is written that after 2-week gavage administration in male rats at maximum 60 mg/kg/day, toxic effects were not observed in reproductive organs such as testis (ACGIH (7th, 2012), HSDB (Access on June 2015)). |
8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Category 3 (Respiratory tract irritation) |
Warning |
H335 | P304+P340 P403+P233 P261 P271 P312 P405 P501 |
From the information that this substance is irritating to the respiratory tract in humans (ACGIH (7th, 2012), HSDB (Access on June 2015)), it was classified in Category 3 (respiratory tract irritation). |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | The classification is not possible due to lack of data. In a 14-day gavage administration toxicity test using rats, stomach inflammation was observed (ACGIH (7th, 2012)). In a 14-day gavage administration toxicity test using mice, focal degeneration/hyperplasia in mucous epithelium of forestomach was found (NTP (2008)). Because these were considered to be findings by irritation, they were not used for the classification. |
10 | Aspiration hazard | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Due to lack of data, the classification is not possible. |
