Rationale for the classification
1 Acute toxicity (Oral) Category 4

Warning
H302 P301+P312
P264
P270
P330
P501
As LD50 values for rats, 1,800 mg/kg (HSDB (Access on September 2013)) corresponds to Category 4, and 2,690 mg/kg (HSDB (Access on September 2013)) corresponds to "Not classified" in the Classification JIS (Category 5 in UN GHS classification). By adopting the category for the minimum LD50 value, it was classified in Category 4.
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data. Besides, there is a report on an LD50 value of 1,085 mg/kg for rabbits (HPVIS (Access on October 2013)). This information was not used for classification because it is from the information source outside the List.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Not applicable
-
-
- - Liquid (GHS definition)
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data.
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data.
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data.
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data.
4 Skin sensitization Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data. There are no in vivo data. As for in vitro, the result was judged to be equivocal in a bacterial reverse mutation test (NTP DB (Access on August 2013)). Besides, there is information that there were negative and equivocal results in bacterial reverse mutation tests, and it was negative in a gene mutation test (hgprt gene locus) with cultured mammalian cells (HPVIS (Access on September 2013)). The above information was not used for classification because it is from the information source outside the List.
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data.
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data. Besides, in HPVIS (Access on October 2013), in a developmental toxicity test with rats in the oral route, no embryotoxicity or teratogenicity was seen. Fetotoxicity (decreased fetal body weights, delayed ossification of the sternebrae) was observed at 500 mg/kg bw/day where maternal toxicity was found. The above information was not used for classification because it is from the information source outside the List.
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data. Besides, it is reported that after gavage administration to rats, transient decreased activity, decreased muscle tone, piloerection, and dyspnea were observed (HPVIS (Access on October 2013)). In inhalation exposure in rats, focal pneumonia was found at the concentration (0.2 mg/L) within the guidance value range for Category 1 (HPVIS (Access on October 2013)). It is reported that after dermal exposure to rabbits, the animals showed a decrease in respiration, reduction in body temperature, coma, etc. but they recovered later (HPVIS (Access on October 2013)). The above information was not used for classification because it is from the information source outside the List.
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data. Besides, there are reports on the following results from tests by oral, dermal, and inhalation exposure in EPA HPV-IS (Access on October 2013). In a 90-day diet administration test with rats, only elevated cholesterol levels and increased liver weights were observed even after exposure to the highest dose (0.72%; 360 mg/kg/day) corresponding to"Not classified." In a 28-day dermal exposure test with rats, effects on the liver (increased weights, elevated serum GPT and GOT) were found at the dose (93.3 mg/kg/day (converted guidance value)) corresponding to Category 2. And in tests with rats exposed to the vapour of this substance for 30 days or 90 days by inhalation, no toxicity effects were seen at up to the highest concentration of 0.1 mg/L. However, in a test in which dogs were given 20-time exposure (0.06 mg/L (converted guidance value)) to the vapour of 0.27 mg/L, one of two exposed animals died, and both dead and surviving animals showed pathological changes in the liver (diffuse necrosis) and kidney (degeneration of the tubular epithelium). The above information was not used for classification because it is from the information source outside the List.
10 Aspiration hazard Classification not possible
-
-
- - Classification not possible due to lack of data.
