In a combined repeated dose toxicity study with the reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test by oral administration to rats (OECD TG 422; GLP), parent animals showed general toxicity of decreased food consumption and reduced weight gain at or above 80 mg/kg/day and a significant increase in regeneration of tubular epithelium in the kidney at 300 mg/kg, while as reproductive toxicity, decreases in the numbers of corpus lutea, implantations, pups born, and live pups on lactation days 0 and 4 were observed at 300 mg/kg in addition to a significant increase in gestation length (Safety Test (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) (Access on Dec. 2012)). Therefore, it was classified in Category 2.

- - In a combined repeated dose toxicity study with the reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test by gavage administration to rats (OECD TG 422; GLP: doses: 0, 20, 80, 300 mg/kg/day), at 300 mg/kg/day of the high dose group (converted guidance value: about 150 mg/kg/day) above the guidance value range, decreased food consumption and increased urine volume (males and females), decreases in protein excretion and urine specific gravity (males) were observed, and blood biochemistry tests revealed increases in total bilirubin, potassium, and total cholesterol in males and an increase in ALT in females. And as histopathological findings, it is reported that regeneration of tubular epithelium in the kidney in males and females significantly increased, and an increase in slight cellular infiltration of inflammatory cells of the renal cortex was found in males, which was considered to be a change related to regeneration of tubular epithelium, and it was suggested that slight changes of kidney damage occurred due to the administration of the test substance (Safety Test (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)) (Access on Dec. 2012)). However, at 80 mg/kg/day of the middle dose (converted guidance value: about 40 mg/kg/day) within the guidance value range, only reduced weight gain and decreased triglyceride in males on blood biochemistry examination were reported, and it is unknown whether the effects seen in the high dose group occur at the boundary value of the guidance values (100 mg/kg/day). Therefore, it was classified as "Classification not possible" due to lack of data.
