1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Category 4 |
Warning |
H302 |
P301+P312
P264 P270 P330 P501 |
It was classified in Category 4 based on LD50 values for rats of 707 mg/kg for males and 812 mg/kg for females (JECDB (2003)). |

4 | Skin sensitization | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | No data available. |
5 | Germ cell mutagenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | The classification is not possible due to no in vivo test data. Besides, as for in vitro tests, it is reported that it was negative in an Ames test (OECD TG471, GLP) (JECDB (2004)) and negative in a chromosomal aberration test with CHL cells of Chinese hamsters (OECD TG473, GLP) (JECDB (2004)). |
6 | Carcinogenicity | Classification not possible |

- | - | No data available. |
7 | Reproductive toxicity | Classification not possible |

8 | Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure | Category 2 (central nervous system) |
Warning |
H371 |
P308+P311
P260 P264 P270 P405 P501 |
In an acute oral toxicity test with rats (OECD TG401, GLP), hypoactivity, staggering gait, tremors, clonic convulsions, mydriasis, soiled fur in the peri-genitourinary area, or hypothermia were observed after the next day of administration in the 1,000 mg/kg group, and deaths occurred 3-5 days after administration. In the 2,000 mg/kg group, the animals showed hypoactivity, staggering gait, tremors, or mydriasis on and after the next day of administration, all males died 3-5 days after administration, and all females died 1-3 days after administration. It was classified in Category 2 (central nervous system) because signs such as tremors, clonic convulsions, and mydriasis were found at 1,000-2,000 mg/kg corresponding to the guidance values for Category 2 (JECDB (2003)). |
9 | Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure | Category 1 (liver) |
Danger |
H372 |
P260
P264 P270 P314 P501 |
In a 28-day repeated oral administration test with rats, in the 50 mg/kg group, increases in ASAT, ALAT, and LDH on blood chemistry examination were observed in males, pathological examination revealed a significant increase in weights and dark red discoloration of the liver, and histological examination showed centrilobular hypertrophy of hepatocytes in males in the 5 and 15 mg/kg groups and males and females in the 50 mg/kg group. And single cell necrosis of hepatocytes in males in the 50 mg/kg group, centrilobular vacuolation in males in the 5 and 50 mg/kg groups, bile thrombi and pericholangitis in males and females in the 50 mg/kg group, and hypertrophy of bile duct cells in males in the 50 mg/kg group were observed (JECDB (2003)). Because liver injuries were seen at or above 5 mg/kg/day (converted guidance value: 1.6 mg/kg/day) corresponding to the guidance values for Category 1 from the above report, it was classified in Category 1 (liver). |

Rationale for the classification | |

11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment (Acute) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | It was classified as "Not classified" from 48-hour EC50 > 100 mg/L for crustacea (Daphnia magna) and 96-hour LC50 > 95 mg/L for fish (Oryzias latipes) (Results of Aquatic Toxicity Tests of Chemicals conducted by Ministry of the Environment in Japan (Ministry of the Environment, 2005)). |
11 | Hazardous to the aquatic environment (Long-term) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Reliable chronic toxicity data were not obtained. The water solubility of this substance was reported to be 2.4 mg/L (PHYSPROP Database, 2012), but it is an estimate, and all the test substance was dissolved in dilution water in acute toxicity tests in crustacea and fish. Because it was classified as "Not classified" based on the tests, and log Pow is 1.64 for this substance (Biodegradation and Bioconcentration Results of Existing Chemical Substances under the Chemical Substances Control Law, 2001), it was classified as "Not classified." |
12 | Hazardous to the ozone layer | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | This substance is not listed in the Annexes to the Montreal Protocol. |
