It was reported to be positive in a DNA damage (fragmentation) test with rat hepatocytes and a sister chromatid exchange test with mice (in vivo somatic cell genotoxicity tests) (DFGMAK-Doc. 4 (1992)), and as for in vitro tests, it was reported to be positive in an Ames test and a gene mutation test with mouse lymphoma cells and positive in a part of chromosomal aberration tests with CHO cells (NTP DB (Access on Sept. 2011)). Therefore, it was classified in Category 2. Besides, the EU classified it n Muta. Cat. 3; R68 (EC-JRC (ESIS) (Access on Sept. 2011)). |
6 | Carcinogenicity | Category 2 |
Warning |
H351 |
P308+P313
P201 P202 P280 P405 P501 |
It was classified in Category 2 because IARC classified it in Group 2B for carcinogenicity (IARC 99 (2010)). Besides, it is reported that in carcinogenicity tests in which rats and mice were given 78-week diet administration followed by the observation period (28-29 weeks for rats, 13 weeks for mice) and examination, there were significant and dose-dependent increases in incidences of hepatocellular carcinomas in male and female rats and female mice and hemangiosarcomas in male mice, and carcinogenicity for male and female rats and male and female mice was observed (NTP TR 181 (1979)). |
