Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Explosives Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
2 Flammable gases (including chemically unstable gases) Category 1

Danger
H220
P210
P377
P381
P403
Due to explosive limits of 2.41 to 10.3 (% by vol in air) (Merck (14th, 2006) which is not more than 13 %, it was classified in Category 1.
Besides, it is classified in Class 2.1 in UNRTDG (UN 1027).
3 Aerosols Not applicable - - - Not an aerosol product.
4 Oxidizing gases Not classified - - - Because it is classified as flammable gases, it was classified as "Not classified."
5 Gases under pressure Low pressure liquefied gas

Warning
H280
P410+P403
A critical temperature of 124.4 degrees C (Hommel (1996)) is above + 65 degrees C.
6 Flammable liquids Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
7 Flammable solids Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
8 Self-reactive substances and mixtures Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
9 Pyrophoric liquids Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
10 Pyrophoric solids Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
11 Self-heating substances and mixtures Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
12 Substances and mixtures which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
13 Oxidizing liquids Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
14 Oxidizing solids Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
15 Organic peroxides Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
16 Corrosive to metals Classification not possible - - - No established test method suitable for gas substances.

HEALTH HAZARDS

Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Acute toxicity (Oral) Classification not possible - - - No data.
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Classification not possible - - - No data.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Not classified - - - From an LC50 value of > 20000 ppmV/4h based on a 2-hour LCLo of 282 mg/L for mice (163927 ppmV) (converted to a 4-hour equivalent value: 115914 ppmV) (PATTY (5th, 2001)), it was classified as "Not classified."
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Classification not possible - - - No data.
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Classification not possible - - - No data.
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - No data.
4 Skin sensitization Classification not possible - - - No data.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible - - - Due to no in vivo test data, the classification is not possible.
Besides, an Ames test in an in vitro test reports a negative (HSDB (2003)).
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible - - - No data.
Besides, it is classified in Group 3 as Anaesthetics, volatile in IARC (IARC Suppl. 7 (1987)).
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible - - - Lack of data.
Besides, Birth Defects (3rd, 2000) reports that many anesthetics show teratogenicity in animal tests, skeletal anomalies predominate with general inhalation anesthetics, and cyclopropane induced multiple defects in mice and rats.
But details of the data are unknown due to no more description.
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Category 3 (Narcotic effects)

Warning
H336
P304+P340
P403+P233
P261
P271
P312
P405
P501
This substance used as an inhalation anesthetic shows anesthesia and CNS depression (PATTY (5th, 2001)).
PATTY (5th, 2001) reports that mice exposed to 5.8 mmol/L exhibited anesthesia in 3 minutes recovered in 1.5 minutes, and HSDB (2003) reports that recovery is rapid, usually within 10 minutes after inhalation irrespective of the duration of exposure, therefore it was classified in Category 3 (narcotic effects).
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible - - - No data.
10 Aspiration hazard Not applicable - - - "Gases" according to GHS definition.

12 Hazardous to the ozone layer Classification not possible - - - This substance is not listed in Annexes to the Montreal Protocol.
