Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Explosives Not applicable - - - There are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule.
2 Flammable gases (including chemically unstable gases) Not applicable - - - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
3 Aerosols Not applicable - - - Not an aerosol product.
4 Oxidizing gases Not applicable - - - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
5 Gases under pressure Not applicable - - - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
6 Flammable liquids Not applicable - - - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
7 Flammable solids Classification not possible - - - No data.
8 Self-reactive substances and mixtures Not applicable - - - Containing neither chemical groups related to explosibility nor those related to self-reactivity.
9 Pyrophoric liquids Not applicable - - - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
10 Pyrophoric solids Classification not possible - - - No data.
11 Self-heating substances and mixtures Classification not possible - - - No data.
12 Substances and mixtures which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases Not applicable - - - Not containing metals or semimetals (B, Si, P, Ge, As, Se, Sn, Sb, Te, Bi, Po, At).
13 Oxidizing liquids Not applicable - - - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
14 Oxidizing solids Not applicable - - - An organic compound that contains oxygen which is not chemically bonded to elements other than carbon or hydrogen.
15 Organic peroxides Not applicable - - - An organic compound that does not contain -O-O- structure.
16 Corrosive to metals Classification not possible - - - No established test method suitable for solid substances.

HEALTH HAZARDS

Hazard class Classification Symbol
Signal word
Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Acute toxicity (Oral) Classification not possible - - - The classification is not possible due to lack of data.
Besides, an LD50 value of 2000 mg/kg bw for rats (RTECS (2004)) is reported in list 3 data.
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Classification not possible - - - No data.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Not applicable - - - "Solids" according to GHS definition.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Classification not possible - - - No data.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Classification not possible - - - No data.
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Classification not possible - - - The classification is not possible due to lack of data.
Besides, a dermal sensitization test by a repeated patch test in more than 50 adults reported that this substance showed a weak to moderate skin irritation tendency (HSDB (2003)).
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Classification not possible - - - No data.
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - No data.
4 Skin sensitization Classification not possible - - - A dermal sensitization test by a repeated patch test applied to a dorsal skin in 50 adults reported that skin reaction in challenge phase was comparable to that in the induction phase, and no dermal sensitization was found (HSDB (2003)).
It was classified as "Classification not possible" because the test results were not clearly described and the information was from List 2.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Not classified - - - On the basis of a negative result in a chromosomal aberration test using bone marrow cells by oral administration to rats (in vivo somatic cell mutagenicity test), it was classified as "Not classified."
Besides, a positive in a chromosome aberration test in the absence of metabolic activation using Chinese hamster ovarian (CHO) cells was reported as an in vitro test (HSDB (2003)).
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible - - - No data.
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible - - - A development toxicity test was conducted by administering this substance orally to pregnant rats in an organogenesis period.
Observed maternal toxicities were weight loss and reduced food consumption, and observed fetal toxicities were significant weight loss and increased ossification variations such as skull anomalies, unossification of cervical ribs and sternebrae (HSDB (2003)), but teratogenicity was not reported.
But the classification is not possible because there are no data on effects on sexual function and fertility.
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Category 2 (systemic toxicity)

P501
A single dose oral administration test of 1000 mg/kg bw to rats (chromosomal aberration test) reported that all rats showed diarrhea, abnormal gait, and stance, and in an 18-hour group, the rats showed decreased body tone and inactivity, and 2 females of them died (HSDB (2003)).
It was classified in Category 2 (systemic toxicity) because the dose corresponds to values of category 2 in Guidance, and specifying target organs from the toxic symptoms is difficult.
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible - - - No data.
10 Aspiration hazard Classification not possible - - - No data.

11 Hazardous to the aquatic environment (Acute) Classification not possible - - - No data.
11 Hazardous to the aquatic environment (Long-term) Classification not possible - - - No data.
12 Hazardous to the ozone layer Classification not possible - - - This substance is not listed in Annexes to the Montreal Protocol.
