As the effects considered as treatment-related, increases in platelet counts and fibrinogen contents, prolongation of activated partial thromboplastin time and prothrombin time, higher values of total cholesterol and total protein, higher value of calcium, higher value of phospholipid and lower value of chloride were observed in the highest dose groups at 250 mg/kg/day (converted value as that of 90-day study: 77.8 mg/kg/day). Moreover, histopathological examinations revealed centrilobular hypertrophy of hepatocytes in the liver and hypertrophy of follicular epithelial cells in the thyroid gland in the treatment groups at 60 mg/kg/day (converted value as that of 90-day study: 18.7 mg/kg/day) or higher ("Toxicity Testing Reports of Environmental Chemicals" (Chemicals Investigation Promoting Council) (Access on Jan. 2011)). With regard to the results described above, since the grade of the changes was minimal to slight in the liver and minimal in the thyroid gland, respectively, and since it was discussed that the changes in hematological parameters were not clarified about the mechanism of onset ("Toxicity Testing Reports of Environmental Chemicals" (Chemicals Investigation Promoting Council) (Access on Jan. 2011)), their toxicological significance could not be judged.
