The substance was classified as Category 1 based on the document that the substance was considered as a sensitizer since the substance was thiourea derivative and the patient sensitized to ethyl(butyl)thiourea also reacted to this substance (Contact Dermatitis, Frosch, 4th, (2006)).

9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible - - - - In the 77-week feeding studies in rats and mice, except for suppression of body weight gain in female rats and mice in both sexes, no significant differences were shown in clinical signs of toxicity, mortalities, or incidences of nonneoplastic lesions in the treatment groups up to the high dose level of 500 ppm (25 mg/kg/day) in rats as well as up to the high dose group at 1000 ppm (150 mg/kg/day) in mice compared with those of controls (NTP TR 129 (1979)). Thus, since no toxic effects were seen in mice up to the dose at 150 mg/kg/day, which over the range of the upper limit of the guidance values, the classification was concluded as "Not classified" category in oral route. However, the classification for specific target organ toxicity (repeated exposure) was concluded as "Classification not possible" due to no information with regard to the other routes. As relevant information, the results of the 4-week feeding studies in rats and mice (NTP TR 129 (1979)), conducted as preliminary tests for the above studies, were excluded from available information to classify because of lack of sufficient examination items for assessment.
