The substance was classified as Category 1B based on the information that the substance was classified as "R (Reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen)" in the NTP carcinogenicity evaluation (NTP ROC 11th (2004)). As relevant information, there are carcinogenicity evaluation in rats and mice from the examination after the observation period of 28 weeks and 18 weeks following 78 weeks dietary administration. In the examination for rats, the significant increase in the incidences of hemangiosarcomas, hepatocellular carcinomas and squamous-cell carcinomas of the forestomach in both sexes, carcinomas of the sebaceous gland of the external auditory meatus in females were observed. In mice, significant increase in the incidences of hemangiosarcomas in males, and hepatocellular carcinomas, carcinomas of the sebaceous gland of the external auditory meatus, a combination of hemangiosarcomas and hemangiomas, and adenomas of the Harderian gland in females were observed (NTP TR 100 (1978)).
