No data were available for this substance, however, it was known that thiocyanate inhibited the uptake of iodine in the thyroid and showed thyroid toxicity (CICAD (J) 61 (2004), ATSDR (2006)). In addition, thiocyanate was the primary metabolite of cyanides and it was reported that occupational exposure to cyanides induced thyroid dysfunction and goiter (CICAD (J) 61 (2004), ATSDR (2006)). Based on the information, therefore, the classification was determined as Category 1 (thyroid).
