PHYSICAL HAZARDS
Hazard class Classification Symbol Signal word Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Explosives Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
2 Flammable gases (including chemically unstable gases) Category 1 Danger H220: Extremely flammable gas P210: Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. - No smoking.
P377: Leaking gas fire: Do not extinguish, unless leak can be stopped safely.
P381: Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so.
P403: Store in a well-ventilated place.
Classified into Category 1 since the gaseous mixture with air of 13% or lower concentrations is flammable from explosive limits: 5.5 - 18 vol% and the difference between lower and higher flammable limit in the air is 12.5% (standard value: >=12%).
3 Aerosols Not applicable - - - - Not aerosol products
4 Oxidizing gases Not classified - - - - Combustible gas
5 Gases under pressure Classification not possible - - - - Not classified as "Gases under pressure" since the substance can not be stored from which it is unstable and immediately polymerizes though it is colorless gas.
6 Flammable liquids Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
7 Flammable solids Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
8 Self-reactive substances and mixtures Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
9 Pyrophoric liquids Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
10 Pyrophoric solids Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
11 Self-heating substances and mixtures Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
12 Substances and mixtures which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
13 Oxidizing liquids Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
14 Oxidizing solids Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
15 Organic peroxides Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
16 Corrosive to metals Classification not possible - - - - Test methods applicable to gaseous substances are not available.

HEALTH HAZARDS
Hazard class Classification Symbol Signal word Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Acute toxicity (Oral) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Classification not possible - - - - Although LC50 values are 250 ppm and 375 ppm (IUCLID (2000)) for rats, classification was not possible since these values were based on 10-minute exposure tests.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Classification not possible - - - - Although there is a report of strong irritant to skin (HSDB (2005)), the substance is a gas and the detailed data including test conditions such as application procedure, exposure period, and the degree and duration of skin irritating signs are not clear. Classification is not possible due to lack of the details.
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Classification not possible - - - - Although there is a result of irritative for the eyes of a monkey following exposure for 4-hour (DFGOT vol. 20 (2003)) and a report of irritating to the eye (HSDB (2005)), the substance was classified as "Classification not possible" since the substance is a gas and the test procedures for the reported results are unknown.
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
4 Skin sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available.
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Category 1 (respiratory system) Danger H370: Causes damage to organs (respiratory system) P307+P311: IF exposed: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.
P260: Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling.
P270: Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
P321: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P405: Store locked up.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
There are reports of damages to the lung such as pulmonary oedema and dyspnea in mice, monkeys, rabbits at dose levels within the guidance value range for Category 1 (DFGOT vol. 20 (2003), PATTY (5th, 2001). Although there are reports of tremors and ptosis in monkeys (PATTY (5th, 2001)), the effects on the central nervous system was probably induced by lack of oxygen (DFGOT vol. 20 (2003)). For humans, there are reports suggesting respiratory tract irritation such as cough and irritant to mucous membranes (HSDB (2005)) and a report of lung damage such as pulmonary oedema and respiratory distress (ICSC (J) (1997), HSDB (2005)). Based on the information, the substance was classified into Category 1 (respiratory system).
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible - - - - Classification not possible due to lack of data.
10 Aspiration hazard Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
