Based on a positive mouse bone marrow micronucleus test (intraperitoneal injection) (Mutation Res., 389, 1-122, 1997), the substance was classified into Category 2. As relevant information, from in vitro mutagenicity tests, there is a report of a positive E. coli reverse mutation test (IARC 10 (1976)).

Based on the classification of "Group 2B" in IARC (IARC suppl. 7 (1987)), the substance was classified into Category 2. It was reported that in a rat 6-month ip injection (weekly or twice weekly) test, pancreatic and kidney tumors occurred in treated rats but not in control rats at 1 year or more after initial treatment (IARC 10 (1976)).
7 Reproductive toxicity Category 2 Warning H361: Suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child P308+P313: IF exposed or concerned: Get medical advice/attention.

There is a report that all litter members died when rats were given intraperitoneally 5 mg/kg on day 8 of gestation and 10 mg/kg on day 8 and 10 of gestation. High incidence of malformations was observed in surviving fetuses of the lower dose groups (IARC vol. 10 (1976)). Additionally, it was reported that teratogenic effects were observed in a hamster test (Birth Defects (3rd, 2000)). However, there was no report for maternal general toxicity, therefore, the substance was classified into Category 2.
