Category 3 based on SPECIES: Rat; ENDPOINT: LD50; VALUE: 100 mg/kg; REFERENCE SOURCE: RTECS(2004)
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Classification not possible - - - - No data available
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Category 3 Danger H331: Toxic if inhaled P304+P340: IF INHALED: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
P403+P233: Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed.
P261: Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P271: Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
P311: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.
P321: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P405: Store locked up.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
Rad LC50 value (4-hour equivalent) = 1865ppm (male) and 1510ppm (female) (all are ACGIH(s) (7th, 2001)) (in the information on Priority 1), and the higher toxic value (1510ppm) was adopted, and it was considered as Category 3.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Category 2 Warning H315: Causes skin irritation P302+P352: IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water.
P332+P313: If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.
P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling.
P280: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
P321: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P362: Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
There is no data about skin corrosivity/stimulativeness. It was set as category 2 in order to call attention, since chilblain may be started by touching the liquid when the this product is in state of a compressed liquefied gas (ICSC (J), (2001), SITTIG (4th, 2002)).
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Category 2A-2B Warning H319: Causes serious eye irritation P305+P351+P338: IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
P337+P313: If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.
P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling.
P280: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
Although there is the description that it irritates to human eyes (ACGIH (7th, 2001), SITTIG (4th, 2002), ICSC (J), (2001), HSFS (2000)), its level of irritation is unknown. Therefore, it was classified into Category 2A-2B. [Indication] 2A is recommended based on the safety, when the Category needs to subdivide.
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available
4 Skin sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data available
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible - - - - Although a teratogenic effects was not acknowledged in rats and rabbits (Catalog of Teratogenic Agents, 11th ed. (2004)), there is no data which performed evaluation to the fertility of this product and it cannot be classified for the insufficient data. .
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Category 1 (central nervous system), Category 2 (respiratory system) Danger
Warning
H370: Causes damage to organs (central nervous system)
H371: May cause damage to organs (respiratory system)
P307+P311: IF exposed: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.
P260: Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling.
P270: Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
P321: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P405: Store locked up.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
P309+P311: IF exposed or if you feel unwell: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.
The substance was classified as Category 1 (central nervous system) because there is a report in Priority 1 that "it affects the central nervous system" in humans (ACGIH (7th, 2001)), and there are also mentions of effects CNS in the ACGIH-TLV (2005). The substance was also classified as Category 2 (respiratory system) because there are reports concerning humans in Priority 2 that it "causes serious irritation to the airways," "inhalation of the gas may cause pulmonary edema," etc. (ICSC (J) (2001), SITTIG (4th, 2002).
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Category 2 (kidney, respiratory system, central nervous system, tooth/bone) Warning H373: May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure (kidney, respiratory system, central nervous system, tooth/bone) P260: Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P314: Get medical advice/attention if you feel unwell.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
In the evaluation report of Priority 1, it is described that the result of the repetitive toxicity examination to a rat and a rabbit is effect on the kidney, respiratory tract, a central nervous system, and a tooth (fluorosis) in the inhalation of 300 ppm / 6 h/day (partially 100 ppm / 6 h/day) (5 days/wk) (ACGIH (7th, 2001)). Since this figure is almost equivalent to the guidance value which helps the classification to Category 2 and in an assessment report of Priority 2 to human, the influence to the kidney and fluorosis (tooth/bone) are occdured (SITTIG (4th, 2002)), it was classified into Category 2 (the kidney, respiratory tract, central nervous system, tooth/bone).
10 Aspiration hazard Not applicable - - - - Gas (GHS definition)
