HEALTH HAZARDS
Hazard class Classification Symbol Signal word Hazard statement Precautionary statement Rationale for the classification
1 Acute toxicity (Oral) Category 5 - Warning H303: May be harmful if swallowed P312: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician if you feel unwell. SPECIES: Rat ENDPOINT: LD50 VALUE: 2760 mg/kg REFERENCE SOURCE: ACGIH (2003), PATTY (4th, 1994)
1 Acute toxicity (Dermal) Not classified - - - - Based on rabbit LD50 value: >20mL/kg (reduced value = >16000mg/kg) (ACGIH 7th, 2001, PATTY 4th, 1994), it was set as the outside of Category.
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) Not applicable - - - - Liquid (GHS definition)
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) Classification not possible - - - - No data available
1 Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) Not classified - - - - From description that death was not acknowledged at 2000ppm in the 4-hour (equivalent 9.323mg/L) inhalation exposure test using rats (ACGIH 7th (2001), PATTY 4th (1994)), it was set as the outside of Category.
2 Skin corrosion/irritation Category 2 Warning H315: Causes skin irritation P302+P352: IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water.
P332+P313: If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.
P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling.
P280: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
P321: Specific treatment (see ... on this label).
P362: Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
It was set as Category 2 from description that moderate irritation was admitted by the test applied to the skin of the rabbit (PATTY (4th, 1994)).
3 Serious eye damage/eye irritation Category 2B - Warning H320: Causes eye irritation P305+P351+P338: IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
P337+P313: If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.
P264: Wash ... thoroughly after handling.
We categorized it as Category 2B based on the descriptions that mild irritation was acknowledged by the test applied to the eyes of the rabbits (ACGIH (7th, 2001) and PATTY (4th, 1994)).
4 Respiratory sensitization Classification not possible - - - - No data
4 Skin sensitization Not classified - - - - Based on the descriptions in ACGIH (7th, 2001) and PATTY (4th, 1994) that the sensitizing property was not acknowledged with the maximization test for human, we classified it as Out Of Category.
5 Germ cell mutagenicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available
6 Carcinogenicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available
7 Reproductive toxicity Classification not possible - - - - No data available
8 Specific target organ toxicity - Single exposure Category 3 (Narcotic effects, Respiratory tract irritation) Warning H336: May cause drowsiness or dizziness (narcotic effects, respiratory tract irritation)
H335: May cause respiratory irritation (narcotic effects, respiratory tract irritation)
P304+P340: IF INHALED: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
P403+P233: Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed.
P261: Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P271: Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
P312: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician if you feel unwell.
P405: Store locked up.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
From description in PATTY (4th, 1994) that a narcosis was seen at high concentrations in the single inhalation exposure tests useing rats, it was judged that there was an anesthetic actions and was set as Category 3 (anesthetic actions). Moreover, it was set as Category 3 (respiratory irritation) from description in ICSC (J) (1996), HSFS (2002), and SITTIG (4th, 2002) that the respiratory tracts are stimulated.
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible - - - - Although there is description that in the neurological toxicity test at repeated inhalation exposures and oral administration to the rat, the neurological toxicity were not observed with the exposures in the Category 2 guidance value range (ACGIH (7th, 2001) and PATTY (4th, 1994)), it cannot be classified since the data is insufficient as there is no data which examined general toxicity.
10 Aspiration hazard Category 2 Warning H305: May be harmful if swallowed and enters airways P301+P310: IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.
P331: Do NOT induce vomiting.
P405: Store locked up.
P501: Dispose of contents/container to ...
Category 2 because of a ketone composed of 13 carbon atoms or less.
